The important finance question is whether the label identifies a current security series, changes redemption or tax treatment, or merely describes an older marketing program.
This section separates current savings bonds from labels attached to older or special-purpose programs. Series EE Bonds and Series I Bonds are the current U.S. savings-bond series, and both are now issued electronically. Education savings bond treatment is a tax rule. Patriot Bonds are older paper EE bonds with a special inscription. War bonds are historical public-finance labels, not a single modern product.
